The leather seems to be of the absolute highest quality and has a great luster (and even a great smell). It just looks like a quality item. If you are looking for something that is not too shiny, this may not be your belt. The shine might make it just a little too much for jeans but still great with khakis.

As someone who thinks Allen-Edmonds makes the best shoes in the world and owns 4 pairs, I had high hopes for the belts, but Thayer is not up to standard. The sizing is problematic (38 too big, 36 too small) and once you wear this belt once, the crease marks and bent leather is obvious. For the price and given the reputation I expected better.
