I had a friend who had a different model that was awesome and is still holding up after several years. This Recon model was the closest thing I could find to it. I use mine heavily, taking it pretty much everywhere I go. It looks to be good quality and has held up great so far. Awesome colors too.

I got this bag in purple for toting around my laptop, tablet, books, snacks or whatever my daughter & I happen to need that won't fit in my purse. I really like this bag. It looks great & seems very well made. It is also nice that it isn't a run-of-the-mill backpack. The quilting, color & sling style make it more unique & more stylish.

The material seems good, though it did smell for a while before the smell somewhat dissipated.The front pocket easily holds a power adapter, and the main pocket holds my 13.3" convertible tablet very well.My main goal in buying this was to add padding to the bag I usually use, and it suits this purpose well.I happened to use this sleeve on its own, without any other bag, at one point, and I felt it was good protection for what it offers, but it's obviously not as protective as, say, thick bubble-wrap.I like it, I think its design is nice, too, and I feel it's a good bag for what's essentially a sleeve with a front pocket and carry handles.

The Timbuk2 Control Laptop Case was brand new. The size and layout of compartments and pockets are great! The TSA setup is perfect. My reason for four stars is the bag could be downsized to fit my 13" MacBook more snuggly, trimmed a little bit of the height without sacrificing utility. But the bag would be a lot more comfortable to carry around. I'd love to see Timbuk2 make those modifications.
